Paying Council Tax and Business Rates by Direct Debit

The vast majority of our Council Tax and Business Rates payers, now pay their bills by Direct Debit.

How can I set up a Direct Debit to pay my Council Tax or Business Rates?

Council Tax

  • You can now set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax by using our online form.
  • You can set a Direct Debit for the 1st, 15th or 25th of the month
  • Once we receive your instruction, we will set up the Direct Debit and send you a revised Council Tax bill confirming the instalment dates and amounts
  • Unless your Direct Debit is cancelled, we will continue to collect by this method each financial year

If when completing the online form, you decide to select the ‘print’ option, you may need to refresh the pages afterwards in order to continue.

Alternatively you can download a direct debit form. You will need to complete and return the form to the Council using the address on the form, or by email to localtax@wealden.gov.uk.

Business Rates

  • Currently we are unable to accept Business Rates Direct Debit instructions online, however we are working on this.

Protections under the Direct Debit guarantee:
