What and when we collect
Your collection day for rubbish and recycling is on the same day on alternate weeks. We collect:
- Green Recycling Bin: Collected one week (some of the older recycling bins might still be black).
- Black Rubbish Bin: Collected the following week. (Please ensure all rubbish is contained within the bin with the lid closed)
- Brown Garden Waste Bin: (Chargeable service) Collected fortnightly but may be on a different day from your other collections.
What goes in each bin
- Green Recycling Bin: Glass bottles and jars, cardboard, paper, food/drinks cans, foil, aerosols, plastic bottles, plastic pots (no plant pots), tubs and trays, plastic film and bags (no black bags & plastic polystyrene trays).
- Black Rubbish Bin: General household waste that cannot be recycled.
- Brown Garden Waste Bin: Grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings, small branches, flowers, and weeds.
For more information please see our What Goes in Each Bin page, or visit our Recylopedia.
Important Information
- Bin Placement: Ensure bins are placed at the edge of your property by 7am on collection day.
- Missed Collections: Report missed collections by 5pm the following working day via our online form or by calling 01323 443322.
- All rubbish should be contained within the rubbish with the lid closed as this reduces the likely-hood of animals and birds accessing the waste. Extra rubbish will not be taken.
- Extra recycling can be presented next to the bin in white or clear bags, except for glass which must be put into the recycling bin.
- Replacement Bins: Order replacement bins via our online form or by calling 01323 443322.
- Assisted Collections: Available on request for those who need help moving their bins.
Crew Safety
Biffa employees and waste operators across the country continue to face the threat of reckless drivers. Biffa is committed to working with Wealden District Council to raise awareness of the social unacceptability of driving recklessly on pavements to help protect the safety of our crews and the public and have produced a short video showing the dangers faced by collection crews whilst going about their work.
