Renewable energy is seen as an essential factor in planning for a sustainable future. The Supplement to Planning Policy Statement 1 (December 2007) on Climate Change, outlines that Local Authorities should take an evidence-based approach to set a target percentage of the energy to be used in new development to come from decentralised and renewable or low-carbon energy sources. This study, undertaken by Wealden District Council, aims to provide an evidence base to set appropriate targets for new developments in Wealden.
