The Wealden Community Grants Programme is designed to support local organisations in the delivery of services that benefit the residents of Wealden. The programme provides funding to help organisations make positive impacts in their communities, addressing various needs and priorities within the district.

The grants are awarded for a three-year period running from April 2025 to March 2028.

A total of £361,500 per year has been agreed to fund the 25 organisations. This is an additional £97,700 per year of extra funding compared to the previous Wealden Community Grants programme which ran from 2022-2025 and is due to end on the 31st March 2025.

A further contribution of £22,500 has come from Wealden District Council’s Cost of Living reserves and was agreed to be used to top up this year’s Wealden Community Grants budget, in order to achieve the most community benefit and outcomes giving this year’s grants allocation a total of £384,000.

Councillor Rachel Millward, Alliance for Wealden (Green Party) and lead councillor for Community, Culture and Communications and leader of the council, said, “It is our mission to make Wealden greener, fairer and kinder, and yet we can only do this with the help of many amazing voluntary organisations across the district.

“The range of projects funded is extraordinary, and a testament to the commitment of our communities to build resilience and increase wellbeing. This funding will support so many meaningful improvements in the lives of local people – young and old alike. I am delighted that we have been able to provide more grants than ever this year. Together, we can create a brighter, more hopeful future for everyone in Wealden.”
