4 out of 5 people pay this way and it is the safest and easiest way to pay.  It’s the cheapest way for the Council too so we can save money! All you have to do is fill in our direct debit instruction form, sign it and send it to us or to request a form, please call 01323 443322. If the amount you have to pay changes, we will give you at least 10 working days’ notice and in the unlikely event of a mistake being made, your bank will give you an immediate refund. By card – on the internet

You can pay with your Visa or Mastercard at www.wealden.gov.uk . You will need to enter your reference number which can be found on your bill.

There is no charge for using a credit or debit card.

By Card – on the phone, 24 hours a day

If you have a debit or credit card, you can pay at any time over the phone. All you have to do is phone 01323 443188 and follow the instructions. You will need to know your reference number which can be found on your bill. There is no charge for using a debit or credit card.

If you have a debit or credit card, you can pay by phoning the Council’s Customer Services Team on 01323 443322. You will need to know your reference number which can be found on your bill.

Please note you will need to key in your card number on your telephone keypad – this is so the Council can meet the highest standards of card payment security.

Most banks offer internet or phone banking services, including bill paying services, or you can pay by debit card or cheque at the counter. Your bank’s website will give you instructions on how to register and pay bills. The Council may be already on the bank’s payment system but if not you will need to give the Council’s bank details. Less and less people are paying this way and the costs of providing this service no longer provides value for money.  Most people pay us by Direct Debit which costs us a few pence.  Cash and cheques cost us £10 a payment to process. Have you thought your cheque contains your sort code, account number and signature – which makes identity fraud very easy? If you want to pay by cash or cheque then you can do so at the Post Office or PayPoint – just ask us for a payment card or use the barcode on your bill.  These outlets are open 7 days a week and for longer hours.  The Post Office have arrangements to securely process your cheque payment. By paying at the Post Office or PayPoint you will help your local Post Office or store stay open.
