Annual Leave
The leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year. Employees generally receive between 20-27 days a year according to salary and grade. An additional 5 days annual leave are awarded after 5 years continuous service by 1st April. We close our office between Christmas and New Year.

Learning and Development Policy
The Council recognises that investment in the learning and development of employees enhances its ability to achieve its corporate objectives, improve its performance and maintain and improve the quality of its services to the Community. The Council has an established policy for learning and development and in addition, with effect from 6th April 2010 all employees will have a statutory right to apply for “Time to Train”.

Relocation Scheme for New Employees
The Council may provide financial and other assistance with relocation for permanent posts designated as ‘hard to fill’. The scheme is at the discretion of the Council and subject to certain criteria.
Insurance
We have a 24-hour personal accident insurance scheme for all employees, covering both on duty and off duty periods. Life Assurance is included as part of the Local Government Pension scheme for those who choose to join.
Freedom Leisure Membership
There are modern extensive leisure complexes in the Wealden area, one located next to our Hailsham offices, which offer a discount to Wealden staff who have an annual membership.
