The newly formed Leisure and Wellbeing Team are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who is looking to make a difference by supporting community health and wellbeing initiatives through developing positive working relationships with local partners and organisations, promoting and developing Healthy Wealden and supporting the wider work programme of the Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Team. Current projects include the construction of a new £16m Community Sports Hub, the delivery of a £600,000 funding programme to improve the local community and sports provision, procurement of the Leisure Centre contract alongside updating and refreshing the Council’s Health and Wellbeing strategy.

What will you be doing?

The postholder will be:

  • Contributing to the development and delivery of Leisure and Wellbeing priorities.
  • Developing links and partnerships with other authorities, organisations, and groups.
  • Leading on the development and promotion of Healthy Wealden.
  • Leading on the development of marketing campaigns and communications promoting Leisure, Health, and Wellbeing.
  • Supporting community engagement and consultation exercises with residents and communities to help understand how best to support and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Helping to identify relevant funding opportunities to improve leisure, health and wellbeing outcomes and support the submission of bids.
  • Working in partnership with the Council’s Leisure Centre operator to promote the Centre-based health programmes and community outreach programme.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects that deliver health and social outcomes and environmental benefits.
  • Attend corporate Workplace Health meetings on behalf of the team and either lead or contribute to staff wellbeing initiatives.

The post is full time. Some evening/ weekend work may be required.

 

What do you need?

  • Some previous experience of working with a wide range of partners and organisations on service delivery matters relating to Leisure, Health, and Wellbeing.
  • Experience of working with external partners or community/ voluntary sector to facilitate the delivery of community projects/ services.
  • Some experience of successful delivery of projects with evidence of meeting targets.
  • A good level of IT skills is required which includes using Microsoft Office products and some experience of marketing and promotion through websites and social media.
  • Good communication skills, good customer service and proactive relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.
