My new Home

Before your new home is let to you, we undertake a number of checks and in most instances a number of works are carried out to ensure that it is safe for you and your household to occupy. This is known as our lettable standard.

You will also be given a copy of the Energy Performance Certificate for the property, known as an EPC. These are supplied to any tenant whether private or social tenants when they rent out a property. An EPC contains information about how much energy a property uses, the energy cost, and recommendations on how to reduce energy use. It also gives your property an EPC rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).  The higher the energy performance rating, the lower the cost it is run the property and lower the impact on the environmentAn EPC also includes information on what the energy efficiency rating could be if improvements to the building were made. Although as a tenant you will not be undertaking such works please note that the Council are investing in improving the energy efficiency of all our homes. As a renter there are still improvements that you can make such as switching to more energy efficient light bulbs or buying more energy efficient appliances.
