Simple Ways You Can Save Water
- Don’t leave the tap running. Whether brushing your teeth, shaving or washing dishes
- Have a shower instead of a bath and take a shorter shower.
- Use appliances when they are full, half load cycles use more than half the energy and water of a full load
- Use the cold water that comes through before a tap runs hot, and use it to water plants
- Buy a water butt for your garden.
- Use a flush saver in your toilet cistern, they are free from your Water Company

Drought And The Countryside
Help Prevent Forest Fires. Don’t make an open fire. Pick up your litter, don’t leave glass bottles lying around (sunlight through glass acts like a magnifying glass and can start fires).
Only use barbecue equipment in suitable and safe areas and never leave it unattended. If you see a fire in the countryside, ring 999. You should not try and tackle it yourself unless it is small enough to be put out with a bucket of water.
Make sure you put out cigarettes properly and don’t throw the ends on the ground.
