Local Government Reviews

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is required by law to review the electoral arrangements for every principal local authority to ensure that the number of electors represented by each councillor in an area is as nearly as possible the same. The Commission can also recommend changes to the electoral arrangements of town and parish councils.     The LGBCE has recently undertaken a review of the County Council Electoral Divisions and District Council Wards.  The LGBCE published is final recommendations for the County Council Divisions and District Council Wards on 27 September 2016.

Review of Wealden District Council Wards

An electoral review was carried out by The Local Government Boundary Commission (LGBCE) and the final recommendations were published on 27 September 2016. The number of Councillors for Wealden District Council will change from 55 elected members in 35 wards to 45 Councillors representing 41 wards.  These changes will take effect at the elections on Thursday 2 May 2019.  A revised electoral register will be published on 1 March 2019 using the new boundaries.

Parish Review

The 2018 Review of Parliamentary Constituencies

In February 2016 the Boundary Commission for England announced a new review of Parliamentary constituencies in England. A Parliamentary boundary is intended to keep the number of electors in each constituency broadly equal. The Commission must make its final report and recommendations in September 2018. The public consultation has now closed. Further details can be found on the Boundary Commission for England's website (external link).

Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2019

The Returning Officer is conducting a review of the Polling Districts and Polling Places within the Wealden District.  The Review commences on 1 August 2019 and the public consultation period closes on 11 October 2019.
