Wealden District Councillors will be paying tribute to those who died serving their country.

Wealden’s Chairman, Councillor Pam Doodes, will be attending the morning ceremony and laying a wreath at Hailsham War Memorial. She will then attend the parade and afternoon service, and lay a wreath, at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield.

“Remembrance Sunday allows us time to pause and pay our respects to all those who have lost their lives in two world wars and the many conflicts that have taken place around the world since,” said Councillor Doodes. “They made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today. We have a duty to ensure that they are never forgotten.”

Council Vice-Chairman, Ron Reed, will be attending the morning Remembrance Day Service at St John’s Church, Polegate. He will then attend the afternoon ceremony and lay a wreath at Crowborough War Memorial, Chapel Green, Crowborough.

Councillor Bob Bowdler will be representing the Chairman at the morning service at All Saints Church in Old Heathfield and will be laying a wreath.

The Union Flag will be flown at Wealden District Council’s offices in Hailsham over the weekend and on Remembrance Day, Monday November 11th. There will be two minutes silence at 11am for staff to pay their respects.
