Media Release : 23 August 2019

The holidays are nearly over, and with the kids due back at school, you might be reminiscing about your own school days.

Perhaps you didn't quite get the grades you expected and wished you'd listened to your parents and studied that bit harder? Or maybe with the start of the new academic year approaching, you're inspired to take up a new challenge?

Whatever the reason, Street Learning returns in September offering over 40 free courses for residents of Wealden and Eastbourne aged 19 years of over. It's a great way to see if re-visiting your education will suit you. From more intensive courses such as Maths or English GCSE, to shorter more creative courses including sugar-craft, flower arranging, and fabric painting. Basic IT courses are available for those who wish to improve their computer skills and ability to seek employment. There are also courses aimed at improving your health and wellbeing. Why not give 'Mindful Living' a go, or improve your communication skills with the 'Be Confident' course.

Courses are run by Acres, Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA), East Sussex College, East Sussex County Council, and Rural Outreach Volunteer Training and Empowerment (ROVTE), and take place in various locations across Hailsham, Uckfield, Crowborough and Heathfield. Booking is essential. All details can be found in the Street Learning booklet, available online at: www.wealden.gov.uk/streetlearning
